Sacred Dham
Kedarnath
Journey to the highest of the twelve Jyotirlingas.
About Kedarnath
Kedarnath is the most remote and revered of the Char Dham sites. Situated at 3,583 meters near the head of the Mandakini river, it houses the legendary Kedarnath Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to the Mahabharata, the Pandavas sought Shiva's blessings here to absolve themselves of the sins of the Kurukshetra war. The stone temple, a feat of ancient architecture, has survived for centuries amidst the harsh Himalayan elements, most notably the 2013 floods, often attributed to the protection of the 'Bhim Shila' boulder behind it.
☀️ Best Time to Visit
May to June and September to October. The temple typically opens on Akshaya Tritiya and closes on the day of Bhai Dooj.
